Emily Pelstring est une artiste en médias et animation dont les oeuvres se manifestent sous plusieurs formes telles que l'installation, la performance, l'animation et la vidéo. Elle a complété un Baccalauréat à Rhode Island School of Design dans le programme de Film / Animation / vidéo et une Maîtrise en Beaux-Arts à l'Université Concordia. Son travail a été présenté à l’international dans des contextes divers tels que le Transmediale Berlin, le Seoul International New Media Festival, L'Alternativa Independent Film Festival de Barcelone, NEXT Festival International du Film de Bucarest, le Antimatter Media Art Festival, le Ann Arbor Film Festival, Pop Montréal, le Centre PHI, le Centre Khyber et la Galerie FOFA. Son travail a été soutenu par des résidences artistiques au Experimental TV Centre, au Studio XX, et à la SAW Video Association. Elle a collaboré avec les musiciens AIDS Wolf, AROARA, Julia Holter, Slim Twig, U.S. Girls, et Yamantaka // Sonic Titan. Emily travaille sous les surnoms Inflatable Deities et The Powers en musique, vidéo, installation et performance collaborant avec les artistes Katherine Kline and Jessica Mensch.

 

 

Emily Pelstring is an artist and animator who obtained her BFA from Rhode Island School of Design in Film/Animation/ Video, and her MFA from Concordia University in Studio Arts. Emily’s work has been shown internationally in galleries and festivals, including Transmediale Berlin, Seoul International New Media Festival, L’Alternativa Independent Film Festival (Barcelona), Antimatter Media Art Festival, Ann Arbor Film Festival, Pop Montreal, the PHI Centre and the FoFA Gallery. Her collaborations with musicians include commissions for Aids Wolf, Julia Holter, AroarA, U.S. Girls, and Slim Twig. Her music video for Yamantaka // Sonic Titan’s “Hoshi Neko”, co-directed with Ruby Kato Attwood, was a top 10 nominee for the Prism Prize for Best Canadian Music Video of 2012. Emily often collaborates with Jessica Mensch under the moniker Inflatable Deities, and with Katherine Kline as The Powers. 2015 shows include Standard Play at the Khyber Centre for the Arts (Halifax) and an interactive installation by Inflatable Deities at PDA Projects (Ottawa).
