Jamie Ross (1987, Canada) Par une chaude soirée de mai, il est né dans une petite maison de la rue Pendrith dans le Christe Pits Park à Toronto, au-dessus d’une rivière enterrée. C’est en ce lieu que tout a commencé. Jamie Ross est artiste, cinéaste et auteur dont les récits ont été publiés dans plusieurs anthologies, périodiques et fanzines. Présenté dans quatre continents, ses films ont été récompensés par plusieurs prix. Par son exploration de l’histoire et des visions sociétales du futur, son oeuvre brouille les limites entre les faits et la fiction. La psychogéographie personnelle et le sens du lieu sont pour lui des intérêts constants. Dans l’oeuvre de Ross, la documentation des communautés queer est fontamentale, en se basant sur un engagement sincère avec la magie, et en se rattachant aux riches traditions artistiques de ses ancêtres, culturels ainsi que biologiques. Jamie habite actuellement à Montréal.

 

Jamie Ross (1987, Canada) was born in a little house on Pendrith Street, just north of Toronto’s Christie Pits Park, above a buried river. That is the place where it began. Ross is an artist, filmmaker and writer. His writing has been anthologized and published in periodicals and artist’s books; his award-winning films have screened on four continents. His work blurs the lines of fact and fiction in its exploration of history and preoccupation with societal projections into the future. Personal psychogeography and senses of place are abiding interests. Creating and documenting queer community based on a sincere engagement with magic, grafting himself onto the rich artistic traditions of his ancestors, cultural and biological, is fundamental. Jamie lives in Montreal.
